Marvelous journeys!

“Walk as children of the light”
(Ephesians 5:8)

Parents, leaders, and educators, we have a mission, a duty to lead children's souls toward the Light which will be their guide and their happiness. In order to illuminate the way that lies before each one of us, once a week we invite you to discover some of the words of certain wisemen and witnesses, measuring their worth by the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: “Do not consider the one who speaks, but whatever good you hear from him, confide it to your memory.” (from The Sixteen Ways to Acquire the Treasure of Knowledge by St. Thomas). Happy reading!

“What delicious journeys I’ve had, set off by a single word.

Honoré de BALZAC (1799-1850)
Writer

“One memory, however, rises out of all those forgotten things: the tapestry on Mr. Antoine’s dividing screen in the classroom. How could I express my gratitude for this venerable screen, all tattered at the corners, that took me on so many marvelous journeys in my imagination during the boredom of long classes! For it was this screen which first opened to me the world of dreams and of poetry; the first to teach me that on the earth there existed countries more beautiful than Canteperdrix, other houses than our low houses, other forests than our olive groves! This screen showed a flowing countryside in muted colors, watered by numerous fountains, and crowded with terraced gardens and castles, great stags running under old forests, golden peacocks with their tails dragging behind them, and pensive herons, standing on one leg amid stocks of gladioli. And who could forget the piper seated beneath the portico of an old temple, and the beautiful lady who listened!”

Paul ARÈNE (1843-1896)
French Writer and Poète Provençal
