What an honor you have been given

“Walk as children of the light”
(Ephesians 5:8)

Parents, leaders, and educators, we have a mission, a duty to lead children's souls toward the Light which will be their guide and their happiness. In order to illuminate the way that lies before each one of us, once a week we invite you to discover some of the words of certain wisemen and witnesses, measuring their worth by the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: “Do not consider the one who speaks, but whatever good you hear from him, confide it to your memory.” (from The Sixteen Ways to Acquire the Treasure of Knowledge by St. Thomas). Happy reading!

Mothers who are profound are loved passionately by their children.

“You are becoming guardians and stewards of the divine life of these children, and in the evening of your life, Eternal Love and Eternal Justice will ask you to render account for the education of these little ones… count on your examples and your words to these pure and inexperienced souls. You will have to explain why they weren’t able to innocently contemplate the crucifix and an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary which should have been hanging over the mantelpiece. You will have to explain why no one watched over their prayers, their learning of the catechism, their reading. You will have to render an account of the education they received, or, as the case may be, of the education they didn’t receive – this scourge of the modern home. The child is no longer a child, he is a tyrant. He doesn’t obey, he refuses. He doesn’t do what he is told, he chooses to do what he wants. He doesn’t work, he amuses himself. He is permitted to do as he wishes, to behave and speak in whatever way he likes. And when he is twenty years old, and parents are faced with blatant insubordination, they come running to us asking us to fix the unfixable. You will have to explain to God the profound reasons for this culpable negligence. Oh my brothers, never expose your children to the loss of the grace of God! Understand, on the contrary, what an honor you have been given to watch over Jesus Christ in watching over your children.”
