(Ephesians 5:8)
Parents, leaders, and educators, we have a mission, a duty to lead children's souls toward the Light which will be their guide and their happiness. In order to illuminate the way that lies before each one of us, once a week we invite you to discover some of the words of certain wisemen and witnesses, measuring their worth by the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: “Do not consider the one who speaks, but whatever good you hear from him, confide it to your memory.” (from The Sixteen Ways to Acquire the Treasure of Knowledge by St. Thomas). Happy reading!
“You are worth only as much as you have received from those who have walked before you.”
Father Jerome KIEFER (1907-1985)
Monk of the Abbey of Sept-Fons
“The role of an educator is not to force children and God’s grace to follow ready-made recipes but to discern the presence of grace in the children’s souls and to help them to correspond to it. Flexibility and docility are virtues which belong to the educator firstly and then to those being educated! Sanctity is not a question of age nor of character but of grace. God freely chooses and makes saints from among those who refuse him nothing. Children who have shown us – and continue to show us – the path to sanctity, do so, thanks to God, Our Lord and Our Lady; quite often, however, it is due secondarily to their parents and their educators who have enough faith and confidence to let them follow Jesus as soon as they hear his voice in the depths of their hearts.”
